Password Dictionary

This prevents users from using well-known passwords. This setting is only as powerful as the password dictionary list defined, however. Although many operating systems offer settings that force users to use mixed-case passwords with numbers, a password dictionary is very useful. Following the release Star Wars, for example, the most popular passwords were R2D2 and C3Po. Bruce Schneier found that the most popular passwords on MySpace are "password1" and "abc123." These passwords would pass through systems that require only a combination of numbers and letters, but would not pass through systems that contain these well-known passwords in their password dictionaries.
