HP-UX TCB Accounts without passwords (u_pwd)
The u_pwd field in HP-UX's TCB (trusted computer base) contains the encrypted password string for the account. This field can also be used to disable accounts. If the password field contains an asterisk (*), then the field is disabled. If the field is blank or contains the hash for a blank password, then the account may have a blank password.
Please note, however, that a blank password will only work if the system is configured to allow blank passwords.
